Every night I go to sleep grateful. Every morning I awake to the same negative thought(s). I chase them away quickly, but is there a piece I'm missing that makes them re-appear daily?

2 things:
Repetition, and action!
The reason why I say that, is whatever you fear is very clearly deeply embedded in your subconscious if it comes out first thing in the morning, since just before sleep and just waking up are when it comes through the strongest.

Take the thing you fear, and figure out something you can do to prepare yourself. ANY action you can take to help you prepare for / fix / prevent the thing you fear.
And keep up your positive visualizations at night. Hit the fear from both sides (visualization and action) until it is totally removed. =)
