Creation - A Sioux Indian Story

(This was sent out as a part of my e-mail coaching, but it's so beautiful I wanted to share it with everyone)

The Creator gathered all of Creation and said, "I want to hide something from the humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that they create their own reality." The eagle said, "Give it to me, I will take it to the moon." The Creator said, "No. One day they will go there and find it." The salmon said, "I will bury it on the bottom of the ocean." "No. They will go there too." The buffalo said, "I will bury it on the Great Plains." The Creator said, "They will cut into the skin of the Earth and find it even there." Grandmother Mole, who lives in the breast of Mother Earth, and who has no physical eyes but sees with spiritual eyes, said, "Put it inside of them." And the Creator said, "It is done."

More Wonderful Words....

Hello, Dave.

It's (name removed). And I want to say a big thank you to you for being you.

It's been about a year since I first stumbled upon your postings on the Secret's fangroup here on facebook, and It's been pretty much a year since I first contacted you as a confused, heartbroken, kid unaware of his own true self-worth and self-respect.

In 2009, I went from bad relationship to bad relationship expecting others to show me my own beauty...or at least tell me I was beautiful, special, or any other positive comment....whether sincere or not.

Anyway, I want to say that your encouragement, and words of advice have really helped me find my own inner strength since last January. Since then, I had the best year ever. i love myself, i love life, and I know that I am beautiful, special, and a prize....not only in romance but in all that I do. and the power I have within myself to create bueaty and goodness wherever I go.

I'm not saying that it was completely all thanks to you, jaja, but you were the initial push and steps. By believing in me, you gave me the courage to believe in myself, and I have accomplished/learned so much since. I've had great adventures, and a great romance with someone who respected me in the past year, but I don't think I would have recognized it as such if I had not done a serious 180.

Before this gets too long, I just want to say thank you. Your videos, articles, and the people I have met through you via facebook have all been such a positive ray of light from which I have reflected towards others. I know I haven't talked with you in such a long time, but I always feel that your busy, and that there are people who need you much more than I do...now that I am strong enough to help myself through most things. But i never forget you, nor all that you have done.

Thanks, amigo! All the best to you and yours..because you given me the best already.

This is the end of a much longer series or emails:

By the way I have to tell you that you are one of my favorite coaches, because whenever I listen to the "best coaches" l often get stressed out and not happy with my life. I cannot describe exactly why, but after listening to your "simple" videos I feel great about my life, have great goals and your videos simply feel me up with positive emotions ;)

Thank you again for sharing your wisdom. Maybe one day I will come to America and visit you ;)

Wish you all the best my friend!!

For the 2nd time in my career co-workers told me that I'm not good enough. The first time I ran away and got a new job, but this time it happened again. so I'm guessing the critism is correct right? how to know what MY "passion" job is? i thougt I knew...

Well, you are as good as you believe you are.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well; so it may be that you need to work on improving your skills, but it is more likely that you need to find that passion which will help you find your dream job; the type of job you would show up to do for free:

Hi Dave Is it possible to marry a person you dont really know well just not to lose the chance of getting married?

Yes it's possible, but that doesn't make it a good idea!
It probably would be a better idea to look at why getting married is such a big deal in the first place:

Best Life 2010 Day 331: LET?S DO THE TIME WARP!

OK first, I owe you an apology; I haven’t written you in WAY too long.

Some quick updates:
First the big new: I had a new baby girl! Kahlan Athena Walters was born on 11/11 at 10:10 am, if you can believe it!
She, mom, and Lexi are all doing great; we are just working to adjust to the new routine.

Which brings me to the second thing: I got that marketing contract I mentioned about a month ago, but it is keeping me BUSY. It’s fun, but it’s been a real struggle to get everything I need to get done in a day.

Hence, the lack of videos, articles, and blogs...but I think I have it now; I guess we’ll see in the next few days!

I have something REALLY cool to post soon; I was in a video on gratitude that is like a mini version of the Secret. I want to share it, but it’s not mine to give; so I’ll post it here as soon as I get permission!

Let me know how things are going with you!

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

GENERIC MEDITATION ON DELUSIONS

Dealing with negative emotions or delusions when they are present is most effective, but the situation does not always allow us to sit down and look inwards. When everything fails during the actual situation; learn from your mistakes by "sitting on them".
One of the main things is to intensely try to relive the situation again, usually the emotion will come up automatically.
Later, one can do an analytical meditation to find out where the emotion comes from, whether it is valid and correct, or if we prefer to think and act differently next time. As with all analytical meditations, do not accept your first answer to any of the questions, but search for a second and third underlying reasons.
To the end of the analysis, try to make a brief summary for yourself and make a very short conclusion: like: "no answer, need to do more analysis" or: "I must learn to control my anger" - any conclusion is valid.
Next, try to take one or two minutes to intensely focus on your conclusion: do not analyse it further, just "look at it". This will help to actually change our mind and to make decisions.

The following steps are merely general guidelines, feel free to improvise, but try to follow the general idea.

1. Sit relaxed with a straight back, breathe deeply a few times and start breathing with the belly.
2. Set your motivation for the session, for example:

May all living beings be equanimous, free from attachment, anger and prejudice.
May all living beings be happy and have the causes for future happiness.
May all living beings be free from suffering and the causes for suffering.
May they never be separate from the ultimate happiness, free from all suffering.

3. Concentrate on the tip of your nose, feel the breath going in and out. At every out-breath count 1, and count from 1 to 10. When you come at 10, simply start at 1 again. Focus all attention on the tip of the nose and the counting. (some 5 minutes)
4. Release the counting and the concentration on the tip of the nose.
5. Try to relive the situation and bring up the emotion.
6. How do I feel, how does my body feel? Tension? - breathe and relax, create space for a solution or response.
7. Where do I feel this emotion, where does it come from and where does it go?
8. Do I get stuck in mental circles, going over the same thought over and over again?
9. How does the other person feel? Does the other just want to be happy, like me?
10. Does emotional reaction help?
11. Is it fair to put all the blame on the other person?
12. How would I have reacted when being in the situation of the other?
13. Think about the irony of being angry about feeling angry, guilty about feeling guilty, afraid about feeling afraid.
14 . Am I often troubled by this emotion? Recognising old emotional patterns is the first step to changing them.
15. Learn to accept and befriend the confused or negative emotion: smile to yourself and admit: aah, anger! Ooh, fear! Yes, guilt...
16 . Practise to change your emotional response:

Facing anger; practise compassion, patience and self-confidence
Facing attachment: look at the disadvantages and temporariness
Facing uncertainty: forgive yourself for being human
Facing fear; practise relaxation and mentally give away whatever is threatened to be taken
Facing greed; practise gratitude for what you have
Facing jealousy; practise rejoicing in others' fortune
Facing pride; practise humility, equanimity and real self-confidence
Facing guilt: act instead of regret
Facing other's pain: gather some courage and allow it to tear your heart open! Have compassion for their suffering and frustrations. Also have compassion for your own helplessness and frustrations.
Facing others' cruelty or rudeness: remember they can only act that way because they suffer themselves.
Facing any negative emotion by myself or others: the quicker I can recognise my own negative emotional patterns, the better I will be able to avoid these actions myself.

17. Take a few minutes to review the meditation session so far, and try to reach a one line simple conclusion.
18. Now concentrate very strongly on the conclusion without thinking about it, just focus on your feelings.
19. Relax and dedicate the positive energy of the session:

By the positive energy of this session:
May all living beings be equanimous, free from attachment, anger and prejudice.
May all living beings be happy and have the causes for future happiness.
May all living beings be free from suffering and the causes for suffering.
May they never be separate from the ultimate happiness, free from all suffering.

Thank you!

Best Life 2010 Day 296: It's Almost Time!

Wow, I didn't know it has been TEN DAYS since my last post!

Well, first off: the baby isn't here yet, but she's probably going to be here in the next week to ten days.

I've been mixing my time between getting baby ready, and getting in some cave time; watching tv and playing video games with what little time I have left!

I'm looking forward to having another child in this world, though; another little face to look at, another little tummy to tickle. Some of my friends in the past have worried about how they'd have enough love for two kids, but I don't feel that way at all. I'd take ten if I could, and love them all equally; in fact I look forward to having to dig deeper to give even more of myself.
Worst case, I'll keep Lexi and give Kahlan to her mom, lol.

Keep those questions coming to formspring.me/bdavewalters and I'll either write an article or do a video to reply!

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

For all those making the biblical argument against homosexuality - Why Can't I Own a Canadian?

For all those making the biblical argument against homosexuality -
Why Can't I Own a Canadian?
October 2002

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a east coast resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative:
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Jim

Best Life 2010 Day 286: Prayer Request!

I am working on something I * really * want to happen, so please send that positive energy my way!

I woke up at 5:30 am; more specifically Lexi woke me up at 5:30 am.
I went to the gym at 730, for a HARD workout; but that proved to be a mistake, since I ended up spending the next few hours helping a friend of mine move furniture around and tear up carpet.

Now, 18 hours later, I am pooped!

I had a technical issue that was making it impossible to upload videos for a while there, but now it's fixed!
I'd meant to sit down to record one tonight, but I'd look like a zombie if I did, so I can only say 'soon' once again.

But...SOON!

O=)

Best Life 2010 Day 282: Delays and Distractions

Ok, so I'm * not * going on tour at the end of November, after all; it's been pushed back to January at the absolute earliest.

In a strange way, I am not to upset about it. I mean yes, the trip (and the money) would have been good; but I wasn't looking forward to leaving my newborn baby behind to go on the road.
So...at least now we have some time together as a family!

I'm rethinking my image and marketing strategy for 2011; trying to boil down what I do into a simple and easily understood message, but that's not easy!

Now you see why I'm getting an early start on the new year!

And remember:

Best Life 2010 Day 278: T-Minus 30 days!

The new baby will be here in a month (or less)!!!

Today we got a test run; we watched our friend's 3 year old all day,
so we had our hands full with both.

I had an interesting thing happen today: a young couple asked me to do premarital counseling for them; I've never done anything like that, but it's not so different from all the other work I do.
I'm actually looking forward to doing it !

It's been a loooong day; up at 7 am, a hard workout at the gym, and then a day full of younglings.
I am turning over a new leaf and getting up earlier every day (7 am now) so I can go to bed earlier, etc etc.

This year is shaping up nicely, and I'm already 80% through putting together my plan for the best life 2011, lololol!.

I got a skin disorder as a kid which quite drastically changed my life.I have recently been trying to change & connect with people again because truth is Im no longer comfortable living as an introvert. How do I become comfortable connecting with people?

The first thing you have to focus on is loving yourself *first*.
The affection and approval you are seeking can't be found in other people, it is a gift you can only give *yourself*

Once you start truly loving yourself, then your insecurities about what others might say or think will melt away. Here is how to start building up your positive self-image:
http://www.examiner.com/spirituality-in-national/emotions-or-you-re-great-and-i-love-you

Ask me anything

What do you do when the day comes when everybody seems to be taking blows at you?! That includes your family, your friends, even the girl you've had good connections with for a while and the people you barely know. How do you get your guard back up?!

The best way to 'get your guard back up' is to realize there is nothing to guard against!
The fact is, people's words have what power over us that we give them. No matter what someone says to you, if a crazy person in the street said it you wouldn't be phased at all, so what's the difference?

Reframe the meanings you give to other people's words, and give up your attachments to their opinions. I wrote an article (and video) about doing just that which you can find here:
http://www.examiner.com/spirituality-in-national/why-god-why-or-letting-go-ii

Ask me anything

How do I put myself in "receiving mode"? I may be there already and I 'feel' like I'm there and I believe I am receiving, but is there a space I can be in to accelerate receiving?

Two things I'd suggest:
The first, is becoming absolutely clear on what it is you want and *why* you want it.
The second thing is, find ways to involve other people in achieving your goals. The best way to get people to help you is by helping them, first.
I wrote an article on how to be more open to receiving from people and from the Universe, which you can find here:

Best Life 2010 Day 276: 10-10-10!

At some point today...twice actually, it will be 10:10 on 10-10-10, how cool is that?

It's been a good couple of days; I got a handle on some issues that were troubling me; and got a whole new insight into my spiritual growth and world view.

I also went to the gym (on time) on Friday, and completed my newly difficult workout regimen; and today a friend watched Lexi for a few hours so Charlene and I could enjoy some soon to be lacking peace and quiet, lol.

I've been revising and adapting my ten year plan, and I like how it's shaping up.
Side note: everyone, EVERYONE should have a ten year plan.
If 10 years seems like a long time, think back to how long ago you graduated high school, or college, or your first child was born, and you'll see how short a time period 10 years really is.

The reality is, the time is going to pass one way or another (God willing) and you'll either be where you want to be, or you won't.
The difference between a happy life full of success and achievement, and one of disappointment that bears a striking resemblance to the life you now, only starring an older you, are two things:
A plan
Working the plan!

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

As a resource to 8-Ball developers, I list here the 20 answers you can find on the icosahedron inside an 8-Ball:

Signs point to yes.
Yes.
Reply hazy, try again.
Without a doubt.
My sources say no.
As I see it, yes.
You may rely on it.
Concentrate and ask again.
Outlook not so good.
It is decidedly so.
Better not tell you now.
Very doubtful.
Yes - definitely.
It is certain.
Cannot predict now.
Most likely.
Ask again later.
My reply is no.
Outlook good.
Don't count on it.
One source reports that a newer model of Magic 8-Ball has a different set. I haven't verified these myself, but here are some of the alleged answers:

Yes, in due time.
My sources say no.
Definitely not.
Yes.
You will have to wait.
I have my doubts.
Outlook so so.
Looks good to me!
Who knows?
Looking good!
Probably.
Are you kidding?
Go for it!
Don't bet on it.
Forget about it.

Best Life 2010 Day 273: Tummy Yummies

That title is for you, Yery!
I am enjoying my tasty milk shake after a late night trip to the gym:
Monster Milk protein powder, regular milk, bananas, strawberries, peanut butter, and 2 raw eggs (you can't taste them); mmm mmm yum yum!

I got a vaccination on Monday for Whooping Cough; apparently there is an outbreak of it here in CA, and the hospital is requiring all parent of newborns to get it before they are allowed in the hospital!
I asked her on Monday if I was ok to go to the gym after the appointment, and she said “yes, but your shoulder will be sore tomorrow”.
Sure enough, I woke up Tuesday morning with a sore shoulder.

This morning, I was supposed to get up at 7 am so I could go work out and be back home before Charlene had to leave; but I woke up to a sore shoulder, and a black dark, cold rainy morning.
You know what I did?
I turned over and went back to sleep!

***BUT***

Around 9 pm it occurred to me that the day wasn't over yet, the rain had let up, and my shoulder felt better; I could still live up to my commitment to myself and go to the gym.

AND I DID IT!

The moral of this story is, integrity is keeping the promises you make to yourself.
How many times in your life have you wanted to do something, and just didn't? The moment obstacles came up, you made excuses to let yourself off the hook?

I'm here to tell you: you have to take big actions to get big results.
If doing the same old thing was going to get you what you want, it would have done it already!
Commit to yourself to do what it takes, WHATEVER it takes to get where you are trying to go, plant your feet, and get after it!

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Best Life 2010 Day 271: Redeploying in November

I found out when I'm going back out on the road; luckily enough it should give me a few weeks at home with the new little one before I head out.

This tour will be bigger venues, but a more hectic pace, a smaller van, but hotel rooms every night; so it should be an interesting experience.
Either way, I'm up for the challenge!

Yesterday was a good day, another birthday party; this time for a 6 year old who I've known for his whole life. Lexi really got in there and mixed it up with the other kids, something I was happy to see; they even had a fire engine there (which I have to say was awesome). The kids had a ball climbing on it, and some of us not so little kids had fun running the sirens, hehehe.

All in all, things were good; as I look towards this end of this year I am seeing the beginning of my entire life!

Best Life 2010 Day 269: Weekend With Friends

What better way to spend a Saturday than visiting friends, and playing with babies????
It so happens that I have two friends who live a block apart (but don't know each other), one of which has a 1 year old boy, and the other a 3 year old girl.
Lexi had a blast, but she couldn't make up her mind about where she wanted to stay, and when she wanted to go!

I also got to see the new Batman/Superman: Apocalypse animated movie, so that made me happy; and I finished reading The Lost Gospel: The Book of Q and Christian Origins. An excellent book (that 99% of 'believers' will never bother to read). My only criticism is that even though the book was a great look at the history surrounding the formation of Christianity; but the author seems to have never considered that there may be any validity to the beliefs themselves, or the fact that a valid oral tradition could have existed long before it was written down.

Ah well.

Best Life 2010 Day 268: Practicing What I Preach

I'll tell you a secret about me:
With rare exception, when I disappear you know something is going on.

I didn't realize it had been 4 days since I wrote, I apologize for that; I am still floating like a leaf on the river of life, but the waves have gotten choppy!

I wrote before about my uncharacteristic emotional ups and downs, and that is still continuing; what I realized is that I have to give myself permission to have ups and downs.

Quite often, when things bother me it actually bothers me that it bothers me; like I get mad at myself for getting mad, if that makes sense, lol.
The issue is, I start to believe I am somehow 'beyond' certain things, and I have to make sure I check that ego quickly. Since the reality is I don't get emotional as often, or stay there as long as most, and I definitely don't let my feelings dictate my life (they are a navigation system, not a decision making system).
But, the fact is your feelings, ANY feeling, carries some useful information. Trying to ignore or bury them doesn't work over the long haul, and you'll end up making yourself sick in the process. Listen to what your mind and body are trying to tell you; look for the message in the center of that swirling chaos.

Remember, everything, EVERYTHING your mind and body do are actually trying to help you in some way, if you look at it like an incoming message, rather than this 'thing' that exists in a vacuum, that can help a lot.

So you're scared, or stressed...of what? Feel guilty? What could you have done differently, and how can you make amends?

Go with your gut, it will rarely lead you astray. And I mean the deep, deep, DEEP knowing; not your fears and anxieties that gnaw away at you.

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

I got hooked on a show that was big in the UK (but totally unknown over here) called The Vicar of Dibley; brilliant comedy about on of the first female Vicars (Priests) in the UK.
I can't recommend it highly enough; you can get it on Netflix, so check it out!

My emotional ping pong is smoothing out with the change in the moon phase (as I knew it would); and needless to say I am thankful!

I know what Mr. Spock feels like during pon farr now (shout out to my fellow geeks, there!)

“Do everything with a mind that lets go. Do not expect any praise or reward. If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggles with the world will have come to an end.

Best Life 2010 Day 263: Roller Coaster...of love...say what???

“Roller Coaster of Love” is an old Ohio Players song, but I prefer the red hot chili peppers version: http://ping.fm/OT7Dk

The reason why I mentioned it, is my emotions have been ALL OVER THE PLACE since the Equinox. Up and down, up and down; but I find that however I wake up is how I tend to stay the entire day; unless I take steps to face and change it.

I am also hearing from lots of friends and clients, especially those in the WORST relationships, are having big problems, too.

So, how do I deal with it?

First and foremost, I realize it's not 'me' who's feeling these things.
I may feel anxiety, but I am not anxious. I may feel frustration, but I am not frustrated.
The emotions are sensations, or information about my environment; but that doesn't make them 'true', understand?
I blame the planets, but I can just as easily blame hormones, work stress, or anything else; really it's irrelevant.
I experience certain sensations that I choose to accept or ignore.

Period.

“Why” doesn't matter. There's how I feel, and what I do about it.
Beyond that, it's bio-chemical brain chatter that will pass soon enough.

So there you have it: when something is bothering you, step back and realize it's not 'you' at all, but an emotional state that you are experiencing.
Look into it and see what it's trying to tell you, and act accordingly.

And above all else: keep moving.

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Best Life 2010 Day 262: ?I had a good day, Daddy?

The last few days Charlene has been working, so it's been Lexi and I one on one; and most days after we take a walk, or her mom gets home, Lexi will look at me and say “I had a good day, Daddy”.

Little things like that are what make it worth getting up in the morning.

I've been pleased to get my spiritual practice caught up with my physical practice (since the Equinox); and just like going to the gym: this is the easiest it has ever been for me.
I guess that proves that the timing was right!

So far, Fall has hit southern california with triple digit heat (really hot, for my celsius using friends); so it's kinda like everything is backwards.

There's a big religious festival tomorrow that I was really looking forward to, and sad I missed last year; but here on the eve of it happening, something is telling me to sit it out.
I guess, I'm not going then; trust in the Force, I do!

Best Life 2010 Day 261: Funny story

I wrote an article today about how you, personally, are responsible for World Peace: http://su.pr/2odUNc, and guess what?
It's my lowest read article to date.
Think about that...
Not that people didn't enjoy reading it...not even that they don't want world peace.

What was the problem, then?
I dropped the 'R' bomb: responsibility.

Almost no one wants to take responsibility for their own lives, much less the lives and well being of their fellow human beings; but there you have it.
Responsibility is the root of all power...since in the end, you can control everything in your life, or you can't control ANYTHING in your life.

I keep trying to find new ways to sugar coat, or put a positive spin on things; but in the end at some point we have to remember Law of GOYA, get off our collective butts, and actually DO something to turn our lives and this world around.

Since if we don't, this world and every living thing on it are pretty much doomed.

Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Best Life 2010 Day 260: Journey Into Night

OK, that might be a bit dramatic; but today is the Autumnal Equinox, which means we are beginning the 'dark' cycle of the year.
I wrote an article about what it is, how it works, and how you can use it to improve your life (don't worry if you are reading this after the 22nd; the window is open for a few days): http://su.pr/6lAZlD

I, for my part, spent some time clarifying my long time goals (even though I know what I want, the exact details are always evolving). Then I sat down to pray to thank God for all the opportunities I've been given, and completely releasing any sense I might have of wasted time, or not lived up to my potential somehow. Since, one: I'm ahead of where I was, and two: God knew (and knows) my time table even better than I do; as long as I'm moving, I'm going in the right direction.

And in keeping with turning over this new leaf, my direction is bed!
I am getting up early to meditate and work out!

I wrote an article about the concept of 'emotional cheating' previously that applies here: http://www.examiner.com/relationship-in-los-angeles/is-it-ever-possible-to-love-two-people-at-the-same-time

Since the guy in question is gay, I assume he isn't actually interested in a romantic relationship, so chances are it's not HIM you are interested in, but the *attention*.
Chances are, he makes you feel beautiful and special in a way that your current significant other does not; quite simply he gives you a tingle in your tummy.

My suggestion is let your boyfriend know that you are feeling a bit neglected, or at least not very special and work together on what he can do to make you feel more valued.
Do NOT tell him about the guy at work, that will only make him miss the true message.

And if he doesn't how you feel and what you need, send him here: http://www.examiner.com/spirituality-in-national/understanding-mrs-right-or-traveling-to-venus

Best Life 2010 Day 259: Enough is Enough

I've been feeling irritated lately.
Time is passing so quickly, and I haven't been making the best use of mine.

I shared with you a little while ago how today is yesterday's tomorrow; but I have become aware on how much more I really should be doing to achieve my goals.

In the past, I would develop some huge new program for myself which I couldn't keep up with and end up doing nothing; so this time I am approaching things quite differently.

First and foremost, I am approaching my goals as my JOB.
Not something optional, but something that absolutely *has * to happen.
Second, I am determining what time to wake up, and the order of importance of the things I need to do in the day. I am am not approaching it like a 'to do' list, since to do lists don't work for a variety or reasons.

And of course I am applying my own advice about how to set up your days (remember this: http://ping.fm/Hsy4D )
I'll keep you posted!

UPDATE: I actually wrote this hours ago, but I got up to go to the gym tonight rather than skip it tomorrow due to a scheduling conflict.
Patience...discipline!

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

I have lost the will to live.I don't know when I wake up or sleep.I am not suicidal.I am just not interested in anything.I know all things I could do to help my situation but the will to do them is just not there.I do not wish to study, work or meet people

It sounds like you are depressed.

Best Life 2010 Day 258: Alive and Well!

I didn't realize 3 days had snuck by since I last made an entry!
The biggest news, is I have (finally) decided on what my next book will be about.

You may be thinking: “but he already said what his next book would be about”, but whatever idea you might be thinking about I put a pin in for a variety of reasons. Ultimately I decided to focus on building up my following, since I'm not really interested in writing another book that only a hand full of people ever actually read.

A few days ago, however, it came to me in my meditation that I should contact my old Buddhist meditation teacher and offer to write a book for him, since very little of his school's teaching is available in English (Vijja Dhamma Kaya, Thai Buddhism). He was overjoyed by my offer, and so the ball has started rolling very quickly on making that project happen.
I have about 8 weeks until the baby is born AND the probable date of the next time I go out on the road, so I'd like to make a lot of progress in that time, if not finish it completely.
Considering I wrote my last book in 20 days once I buckled down to make it happen, 2 months shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Everything else is moving along right on schedule my workouts have gotten to be TOUGH though; by 10 pm I can barely keep my eyes open (hence the lack of blogs, and hence me going to bed now!)

More articles and videos coming soon!
You are great, and I love you!

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Best Life 2010 Day 255: The Gospel according to (all kinds of people)

GREAT workouts this week!
I made some changes that would enable me to shorten the time spent in the gym and by extension be able to hit it a lot harder, which has worked out quite nicely.

I am still working my way through the Book of Q (still awesome) and learning more about various forms of early Christianity (also awesome) which is helping inform my own world view and beliefs.

It's also been amazing to me how close the (actual) teachings of Jesus parallel the teachings of Buddha (90%) and most other major world religions (70 -85%).

Such wonderful ideas; wouldn't it be neat if we were to start applying them?

Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

When reason ends, then anger begins. Therefore, anger is a sign of weakness. (HH Dalai Lama)

If subconscious anger had a parallel in Buddhist writings, it would have to do with what is called mental unhappiness or dissatisfaction. This is regarded as the source of anger and hostility. We can see subconscious anger in terms of a lack of awarness, as well as an active misconstruing of reality.

If there are sound reasons or bases for the points you demand, then there is no need to use violence. On the other hand, when there is no sound reason that concessions should be made to you but mainly your own desire, then reason cannot work and you have to rely on force. Thus, using force is not a sign of strength but rather a sign of weakness. Even in daily human contact, if we talk seriously, using reasons, there is no need to feel anger. We can argue the points. When we fail to prove with reason, then anger comes. When reason ends, then anger begins. Therefore, anger is a sign of weakness."

Best Life 2010 Day 253: I Keep It Cool

Another great day; things are starting to get back on track.

I had to streamline my workouts a bit, since the volume was getting to be so high I couldn't finish...which does more harm than good.
So I cut it back to just 3 exercises per session that I give the proper intensity, and I already like the results. (/flex)

I'm about 25% of the way through The Lost Gospel (The Book of Q and Christian Origins) and I have to say it is GREAT.
It always makes me sad how few 'Believers' put in any effort to understand their religions in terms of the history and culture they came out of.
After all, if you have a clearer idea of the world the Jesus/Buddha/Muhammad/etc. grew up in, then you'll have a better idea of what shaped their ideas and how they would communicate those ideas, and how the people of the time would have heard them.

Since it's easy to open up a holy book, read it and decide what you think it means; but *what the person who wrote it meant * might be TOTALLY different.
Oh well.

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Best Life 2010 Day 252: Return to active duty

Ok...return to active *Daddy * duty!
Charlene went back to work today, so it was just me and Lexi all day.
We went out walking and running errands; I spoiled her with donuts and pizza (believe me, she burned the calories on the walk!), so a good time was had by all.

An interesting thing popped up on my Facebook fan page while I was typing this blog; someone wrote:
“Always wonder about so much emphasis on forgiveness.
Does forgiveness mean license to repeat the same saga
Of crimes, perversion, and abuses
For such is what is understood
In eternal repeating history of humanity”

To which I responded:
“Quite the opposite.
If there were more forgiveness, there would be less crime, perversions, and abuses in the world.
Carrying grudges and desiring retribution is what causes wars, conflicts, pain and suffering.

Forgiveness is the one thing that takes all that away.”

I've used this quote again and again, and it keeps getting truer every time:
“Holding on to anger with the intent of harming someone else, is like picking up a hot coal with the intention of throwing it: you are the one who gets burned”.
-Buddha

There's a difference between justice and retribution.
Justice is coming no matter what we do, in this life or the next.
Retribution is justice's evil twin, and the root of so much pain in this world.

Think about it, how many wars would we have in this world if we weren't preoccupied with taking something from someone else, or worried that they were going to try and take something from us?

We could have world peace right now, in an instant, if everyone chose it.
But we don't, and won't any time soon, since so many people can't let go of the past.

A shame, really.

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Book of Changes IV: TAO, WITHOUT ORIGIN

IV

TAO, WITHOUT ORIGIN

The Tao appears to be emptiness but it is never exhausted. Oh, it is profound! It appears to have preceded everything. It dulls its own p. 13 sharpness, unravels its own fetters, softens its own brightness, identifies itself with its own dust.

Oh, it is tranquil! It appears infinite; I do not know from what it proceeds. It even appears to be antecedent to the Lord.

Best Life 2010 Day 251: I have discovered my mission!

“Liberating People Through Knowledge and Love”

Everyone is trapped by something, be it mental, physical, spiritual, economic...or just being stuck in the past.
What I do is help people get free from that.

It seems simple when I say it, but I've spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out what ties all my interests together...and that's it!

III

QUIETING PEOPLE

Neglecting to praise the worthy deters people from emulating them; just as not prizing rare treasures deters a man from becoming a thief; or ignoring the things which awaken desire keeps the heart at rest.

Therefore the wise ruler does not suggest unnecessary things, but seeks to satisfy the minds of his people. He seeks to allay appetites but strengthen bones. He ever tries by keeping people in ignorance to keep them satisfied and those who have knowledge he restrains from evil. If he, himself, practices restraint then everything is in quietness.

Best Life 2010 Day 250: 250 Days and Nights

So I finished “Reading Judas” and it was *awesome*.
Such an interesting look at how Christianity came to be.
We are usually lead to believe that there is this single definition of what it means to be “Christian” but the fact is, there is no such thing. Just like there are different views and denominations now, there were different views and denominations then. Even all the Disciples couldn't agree on who Jesus was, and what he meant; so how can we expect to all agree now?
Like I said, just fascinating.
I have a few I want to read, but I THINK next up is the Lost Gospel; but maybe it's “the Hidden Wisdom in the Holy Bible”; hmmm...decisions, decisions!

It's been really interesting re-examing what it is that I believe; especially since I've been exposed to SO MANY different things over the years that I hold to be “true”, but are sometimes directly contradictory.

I have discovered what it is that I am supposed to do in this world, and in reality I knew all along that it was the thing I am best at:
take in tons of information, process it, and put it back out in a way that people can understand.

So that's what I do, and what I am going to keep doing; I guess that's why they call me Waltepedia (thanks Shilpa, lol)

Best Life 2010 Day 2049: Cursed Voyage

As you may know, I am usually very passionate and respectful of all things Native American. My Great Grandmother was half Choctaw / half Chickasaw (which where I get my cool eyes from).
At any rate, I am down for the People. Today, however, I went onto an Indian reservation (and I won't say what Tribe/Nation it was) and I INSTANTLY felt uncomfortable. I don't know if these people are ancestral enemies of mine or something, but everything in me felt yucky the whole time I was on their land. Even when I drove down into their valley, thick fog covered everything; it was like driving into the Land of the Lost or something.
Strangest thing.

I got up and out at 5 am like I said I would to go down there; the race was fun and it was good PR for us, but I ended up leaving early; and thankfully, too!

Before I go, I'd be remiss if I didn't post here the status message I put up on my Facebook profile in honor of 9/11:
Never forget that the true lesson of 9/11 is the terrible cost of hatred, ignorance, intolerance and greed in this world.
Violence and terror never have, and never will never accomplish true and lasting positive change.
Only love, knowledge and understanding can accompish that.

And remember:
Never give up, never give up, never ever ever give up.

Book of Changes II: SELF-DEVELOPMENT

II

SELF-DEVELOPMENT

When every one recognizes beauty to be only a masquerade, then it is simply ugliness. In the same way goodness, if it is not sincere, is not goodness. So existence and non-existence are incompatible. The difficult and easy are mutually opposites. Just as the long and the short, p. 12 the high and the low, the loud and soft, the before and the behind, are all opposites and each reveals the other.

Therefore the wise man is not conspicuous in his affairs or given to much talking. Though troubles arise he is not irritated. He produces but does not own; he acts but claims no merit; he builds but does not dwell therein; and because he does not dwell therein he never departs.
Men always want to be a womans first love - women like to be a mans last romance.

Best Life 2010 Day 2048: Pre-Game Show

I spent the day getting ready for my road trip tomorrow; gotta get up at 5 am to be down south for a show at 8 am. Tonight's going to be an early night!

I've been reading “Reading Judas” by Elaine Pagels and Karen L King; a WONDERFUL book; gives a really interesting picture of what it was like in the early days of Christianity and all the challenges the people faced.

I enjoy it, because it shows me that the basic problems and questions we have in our lives are as old as human kind; there really is nothing new under the sun.

The major difference is, if we make a mistake, no one comes in our house to kill us and our family. No being sold into slavery, no being fed to lions.

Kind of keeps your problems in perspective, doesn't it?

MICROSOFT VERSUS APPLE (LOLOLOL)

Three Apple engineers and three Microsoft employees are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three Microsoft employees each buy tickets and watch as the three Apple engineers buy only a single ticket.
"How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asks a Microsoft employee.
"Watch and you'll see," answers the Apple engineer.
They all board the train. The Microsoft employees take their respective seats, but all three Apple engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the restroom door and says, "ticket please." The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on.
The Microsoft employees saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. So after the conference, the Microsoft employees decide to copy the Apple engineers on the return trip and save some money (being clever with money, and all that). When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the Apple engineers don't buy a ticket at all.
"How are you going to travel without a ticket" says one perplexed Microsoft employee.
"Watch and you'll see," answers an Apple engineer.
When they board the train the three Microsoft employees cram into a restroom and the three Apple engineers cram into another one nearby. The train departs. Shortly afterward, one of the Apple engineers leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the Microsoft employees are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket, please"...

The Book of Changes #1

I

WHAT IS THE TAO

The Tao that can be understood cannot be the primal, or cosmic, Tao, just as an idea that can be expressed in words cannot be the infinite idea.

And yet this ineffable Tao was the source of all spirit and matter, and being expressed was the mother of all created things.

Therefore not to desire the things of sense is to know the freedom of spirituality; and to desire is to learn the limitation of matter. These two things spirit and matter, so different in nature, have the same origin. This unity of origin is the mystery of mysteries, but it is the gateway to spirituality.

Best Life 2010 Day 2046: Apparently I need to take it easy.

So, my workout was incredibly hard today; arguably harder than it should have been. And I've had a lot on my mind lately, apparently more than I thought I have.

It all kind of dawned on me as I was sitting here trying to think of a topic to write an article about, and something told me 'just go to bed', lol; so it looks like I'll be in bed by 10:30 or so!

I did get some great books at the library, though: “Misquoting Jesus, the story behind who changed the Bible, and why”; “Reading Judas, the Gospel of Judas and the shaping of Christianity”; and “The Lost Gospel, the book of Q & Christian Origins”. (See a pattern? LOL)
A friend of mine was complaining about how hard their reading for a University class they were taking...it so happens I read the same thing last week for fun; LOLOLOL.

I could really use a break, like a vacation or something; but that's not coming any time soon. Oh well, working hard isn't so bad when you enjoy what you do as much as I do!
